Company presentation

CtrlPrint is Europe's leading service used to collaboratively produce designed corporate and financial reports with Adobe InDesign and lnCopy. The reports are regulatory reports such as Annual, Sustainability and Interim reports, but are mainly produced with the purpose of communicating the company’s performance, plans and views to investors, creditors, shareholders, and other stakeholders with a deep interest in the business. Consequently, a lot of time and resources are put into these reports. CtrlPrint’s customers include over 800 companies, government authorities and organisations, across four continents. The company is owned by the investment company Pamir alongside members of the management team. The company continues to rapidly grow thanks to its highly dedicated team of staff.

The story behind CtrlPrint

The story of CtrlPrint starts at a Stockholm based B2B advertising agency in the late 1990's. In 1998 one of their long-term clients got listed on the Stockholm Stock Exchange and chose the agency to help out producing their first annual report as a listed company. Both the client and agency were completely new to this area of producing communication material and the project became, to say the least, a bit chaotic. But it sowed a seed for a business idea. And that idea became CtrlPrint.  At the agency part of the business focused on something brand new and disrupting, web development.

They started to think about how web-technology could build a solution that addressed the challenges of the current way of producing Annual reports. After Adobe released InDesign in 1999, CtrlPrint has based the development on this tool and its text editor InCopy. CtrlPrint’s primary aim has always been to make the production of designed annual reports more efficient and more flexible, and to increase security and transparency of these projects. Together with the customers, the company has developed a user-friendly platform and solutions for the challenges that arise in complex Adobe InDesign/InCopy projects with many different content owners, stakeholders, and reviewers. The competitive edge is time and cost saving as well as increased control and ease of collaboration in the production process. There are no direct competitors, but many different providers offer solutions that solve this challenge, but no one has the same simple approach.

The culture of the company is informal, dynamic, driven, open, entrepreneurial and solution oriented. CtrlPrint works very closely with its customers and is easy to approach and genuinely service minded. Excellent customer experience is one of the top focuses.

CtrlPrint is ISO 27001 certified for information security and provides annual SOC reports that among other things mean that the service delivery is routinely audited to ensure that routines and processes related to information security are followed.

Current developments

The introduction of a new EU regulation called ESEF has brought a big opportunity to CtrlPrint. ESEF is short for “European Single Electronic Format” and is from 2020/21 the demanded format for reporting by companies with tradable securities listed on a regulated market within the EU. A regulated market is commonly called “the main list” of a stock exchange, ESEF is based on a technology that makes financial reports machine readable by tagging the financial information with XBRL tags. XBRL is a technology that makes it possible to structure financial information by using tags, a bit similar to how HTML works. ESEF is a big change for the listed companies and comparing the production of a PDF, which is the output from InDesign/InCopy, to an XBRL based report is almost not relevant. CtrlPrint’s way of solving this has gotten very well received in their existing markets and is a very interesting platform for growth and expansion to new geographies. The XBRL technology is also expanding into the area of sustainability reporting with the proposed CSRD (Corporate Social Responsibility Directive), meaning that close to 50,000 companies within the EU will be required to report sustainability information mandatory and using XBRL.
